四国デイー３、今日こそはと思い、午前５時前に河口をチェックに行くものの、
潮が上げていてほとんどブレイクしていなかったので、お寺に帰り二度寝に入った〜
そして午前９時頃、少しサイズアップしてきたとの連絡が入り、再び河口に戻ると、
たまに頭くらいのセットが来だしていた〜
潮も干きに入り、バンクに沿ってファンライトが出現し出してきた。
Went for a check to the river-mouth but
size wasn’t that big so went back to sleep again~~
On 9 am, got a call that size is rising and when I went back there,
waves were around over head~
Tide’s went down so started to look fun.

その後更に潮が干いてくると、今度は河口に向かうレフティがバカッ掘れし出してきた〜
今回の地形は本来のベストバンクではなく、川が沖に向かわず、右よりつまり西寄りに振ったため、
ライトのバンクが沖斜めになりきらず、横長となってしまいブレイクが早くなってしまった。
しかしレフトはいつもよりも西寄りにバンクができ、独特の鋭角ボウルが出現し、
干きとともサイズアップもし出し、そのまま夕方までゴーインオフしていった〜
After the tide went down, lefty started to show up~~
Not the best bank but swell swung to west so
the break went long side ways.
But a particular shaped barrel showed but
and went off till evening~~

高知取材の時は全てケンタに委ねているが、今回はケイト＆ジュンのケアをふまえ、
なかなかスエルがリーチしてこない中にあっても、
冷静にベストプレース・ベストタイム・ベストタイドを外さなかったのは流石と言えた。
For this session in Kochi, I’m relying on to Kenta and
he never missed the wave during this session.
Best time, best place and best tide. Good decision.

日本屈指のバレルジャンキー・ウエイブハンターとも言えるケイトは、
やはり今季初の台風１号のスエルを狙って、湘南から一人で四国入りしてきた。
ファーストラウンドではフィンがもぎ取れ、足も少し捻挫したようだが、
いつものハングリースピリットで、夕方遅くまでレフトに張り付いていた〜
Keito came to Shikoku from Shonan to hunt some waves of the 1st typhoon.
On his first round, his fin came off and hurt his foot but
sticked to the wave till evening~~

一方ジュンはレフトよりライトにフォーカスし、前半はアクションに、後半はチューブにと
宮崎には無いシャープなリバーマウスブレイクをフルに楽しんでいたようだ。
すでに３３歳になり、子供も２人いる風に見えないが、今なおサーフィンは進化し続け、
コンペティションにもフリーセッションにも意欲的なところを見せてくれる。
Jun was focusing to righty and and enjoyed riding the barrel
along with the river mouth breaks.
He’s already 33 years old and had 2 children but
his surfing still evolves and has the will to surf on competition scene and free session.

潮の干満、川の流れ、スエルのディレクションによって、
刻一刻と顔が変わっていくのもまたリバーマウスの魅力だね〜
Attractive point about river-mouth is
that the characteristic changes dramatically by the tide, stream and swell direction~~

ようやくスエルが入り始めてきた四国・高知リバー。
なんだかんだロックインリバーマウス、オールデイオンザビーチでした〜
明日のサイズアップに期待したいが、にゃんと雨予報、、、、
プレイフォーサーフ！！
