今日がザデイ、ファイナルデイになると思いきや、

さっきまでカムだったのがいきなりドオンショアのストーミーコンディションに〜

コンテストはオフコール、明日にファイナルデイを持って行きたい様だ。

寒い寒い〜〜キャラバンパークのキャビンに帰って出直し〜〜

Thought today’s gonna be the final day of competition but

condition became stormy~

So contest was postponed and take the final day to tomorrow.

Damn cold so lets go back to our cabin~~~

泊まっているトーキーのキャラバンパークのすぐ隣りにあるリップカールショップ。

思えばオイラが１９歳、つまり３７年前に初めてトーキーに来た時、

このトーキーのキャラバンパークでテントを張って、ヒッチハイクでベルズに通っていた〜

その頃は小さな小さな町？村だったトーキーも、今やサーフタウンとして発展した。

リップカール、そしてクイックシルバーもこの寒村／トーキーから誕生してきたのだ。

現在の大きなリップカールショップの天井にはその歴史がまざまざと飾られてあった。

波があって、サーファーがあって、その先にサーフィンのビジネスが誕生し、

ここまでのブランドとなり、そしてあくなきサーファーのデザイアーとして、

世界中の波を探す”サーチ”プロジェクトも行ってきたリップカール。

そしてそのルーツでもあるトーキー／ビクトリアで、

今なお世界で一番長いコンテスト歴を誇るイベントを続けているのだ。

There is Rip Curl Shop next to my caravan park at Torquay.

I remember hitchhiking to Bells from Torquay when I first came to Torquay 37 years ago~~

This place was just a small village and grew up to this one big surf town.

And those legendary brands, Rio Curl and Quiksilver started from this cold village.

There was these historical pictures on the board at the Rip Curl Shop.

Waves and surfers came here. That’s why surfing became business in here and

this brand, Rip Curl started many project to search the waves for surfers desire.

And the origin started from this place, Torquay, Victoria.

サイズアップしてきているが、明日コンディションは整うのかにゃ？？
