Makua Rothman @ Bowl’s
サウスショアセッション、デイー２〜〜
今日が今回のサウススエルのピークデイ。
なので本日はボウルズにロックオン〜
マジックアイランドに朝の７時からカメラをセットし、
雲／雨が来た午後３時までの８時間へばりつき撮影でした〜
そんな膨大な写真の中で、このマクアロスマンの一本が、
一番ボウルズらしい波／ショットとなりました〜〜
まだまだボウルズの真髄とは言えないサイズでしたが、
季節の変わり目、スプリングシーズンとしては、稀なラッキースエルと言えましょう。
2ns day in South Shore~~
Today will be the best condition by the south swell.
So set up my gears at Magic Island and aimed down my site to the Bowls~
I took many shots and this Makua Rothman’s shot looked like one
Bowls kind wave~~~
Size wasn’t perfect for Bowls but
we could tell that this swell was a lucky one in this spring season.

昨日同様、午前５時にノースを発ち、６時過ぎにサウスの海に到着。
ロングピリオドのスエルなので、見た目はシラ〜っとしているように見えるが、
必ずセットが入り、マックスは４プラスのドセットも来襲した〜〜
Kicked off North Shore in 5 am like yesterday and got to South Shore but past 6.
This swell is a long period one so the ocean might look silent but
set will come in eventually~~~

今日はタイチはお勉強のためお休みで、カイシュウを誘ってのタウンツア〜〜
マジックアイランド側に車を停め、アラワイ運河のチャンネルを横切って、
ボウルズへパドルアウト〜〜
リョウタはパークの芝生に生えてる鬼芝を踏んづけて、イタタタタ〜〜〜
Taichi has to study today so picked up Kaishu today~~
Parked my car near Magic Island and paddled to Bowls~~~
Ryota stepped on to that pocky grass while he was walking through the park~~~

まずはリョウタン、プリティボウルズをゲット〜〜

マジックアイランドからボウルズと逆の方向を望むと、
遠くにビッグライトでプルインしていくサーファーが見えた。
サウスショアのこの一帯はあらゆるタイプのブレイクがひしめきあっているんだ。
I saw a surfer puliing into Big Right when I looked back.
There are many types of break in South Shore.

して、今度はボウルズ側を見ると、セットが入り、
レフティサーファーはエンドボウルにセットしていく〜〜〜
Suddenly, set started to come so
lefty surfer sets them self to the End Bowl~~~

かつてはJPSAででも活躍してしていたニックミタも、
久々のサウススエルなんで、お仕事前にボウルズセッション〜〜

とにかくエンドボウルを狙い続けたリョウタン。
セットが来なくなると、ついついサーファーは奥に引きずられ、
そこのポコンとセットが来ると乗れちゃうんだよね〜
Ryota was keep on charging to the End Bowl.
Surfer goes deeper and catches the set when it comes in~~

シンペリーもモーニングセッションに参加。
ボウルズローカルメンバーが入って来る前に、さくっとサーフ〜〜
Shinpei also surfed in this morning session.

ニックのバディでもある、日系のローカルサーファー／グレッグナカムラ。
サンセットでのサーフィンは定評があり、HIC PROでファイナリストになった事もある。
Nick’s buddy, Greg Nakamura.
He has some skills on surfing in Sunset and he even once became the HIC Pro’s finalist.

これは多分テニスコートと呼ばれるブレイクで、
あまり掘れず、広いフェイスを持っているので、SUPに人気のスポットだ。
I think this break point is called the Tennis Court and
it doesn’t break that much so it’s a one good point for the SUP surfers.

アラモアナヨットハーバーから自分の船を出し、
ボウルズのチャンネルから写真を撮り、
今度は沖に船をアンカーし、ボウルズでサーフ。
そして今度はビッグライトに移動して、またまたサーフと、
タウンのゴージャスボートトリップを演出したカービー。
Kirby drive his ship from Ala Moana Harbor and
started shooting from the boat in Bowls and
surfed after shooting.
What a gorgeous boat trip in town~~

今日もボウルズでリッピンしていたケオヤン。
エンドボウルはチューブオンリーだが、一つ奥のセクションはソ〜リッパボ〜
Keoni Yang was lippin’ in Bowls today.
End Bowls makes only barrel waves but deeper section makes one lippable waves~~

俺等は折角タウンに来ても、どっかでお食事って訳でもなく、ひたすら弁当持参。
リョウタはお米一合くらいのオニギリを、いつも２つ作ってくるんだぜ〜
でも、全然背も伸びないし、太らないんだって〜〜〜
Even thought we came down to the town, we always make our own bento for lunch.
Ryota always make 2 huge musubis~~
But he never gets taller or fatter~~~
Micah Moniz
モニーツブラザーズの長男／マイカモニーツ。
弟達の様なコンテンダーではないが、ビッグウエーバーであり、
ハワイアンらしいスタイルをもつアイランドサーファーだ。
Micah Moniz, the oldest one in Moniz Brothers.
He’s not much of a contender like his little brothers but he’s one big waver and
has a Hawaiian kind island surfing style.

現在ボウルズの主とも言えるロコボーイのケコアカジメロ。
昨日／今日とボウルズでのアクションは群を抜いていた〜〜
One of the surfer in the highest rank in Bowls, Kekoa Cazimero.
His action was absolutely different from the others~~

ノースショアボーイのケオにもボウルズセッションにショーアップ〜
ケオニとすれば、異例の長時間ボウルズに食らいついていた。
それだけ気分がノリノリだったんだろう〜
イエ〜〜〜バ〜ガ〜〜ゴ〜インオ〜〜フ！！
Keoni, the North Shore boys showed up in Bowls session as well~~
He stick with Bowls for a long time today.
I guess he was in the mood~~

Kaishu Tanaka
ローカル色の強いエンドボウルは狙わず、
奥のピークでレフト＆ライトを乗りまくっていたカイシュウ。
いよいよカイシュウも今週末に帰国し、すぐにバリ入りする。
Kaishu was avoiding the End Bowl and
kept on catching from the deep peak.
He’s now going back to Japan this weekend and flies to Bali.

ボウルズにロックオンの一日だったリョウタン。
炎天下のマジックアイランドの突先に陣を張り、ソリッド２ラウンドこなした。
夕方リョウタが上がって来ると、丁度一気に雲が来て、雨もパラパラ降り出し、
抜群のタイミングで撤収〜〜となった〜〜
Ryota also stick with Bowls for all day long.
Finished solid 2 rounds in this hot day.
After he came out from his 2nd session, rain started raining so
we decided to drive back home~~~
今日の風はノースイーストのオフショア。
天気もゴージャス、サウスの海は御覧の様にパンピン〜〜〜
午後になると、光はなおスイ〜ト〜〜〜
Today’s wind was north east offshore.
Weather was gorgeous and as you see, South Shore was pumoing~~~
And light looked sweet from afternoon~~~
Fred Patacchia
スナッパーの試合で、ライディングしたまま岩に板をパンチした事で話題となった、
フレッドパターチアだが、逆にフレピーロックと名付け、ユーモアにしちまったのは流石。
いよいよフレピーも、WSL第２戦目／リップカールプロ／ベルズへと旅立つ。
Fred became famous by smashing his board to a rock during the competition but
it was nice he named that rock “Freppy Rock” later on.
He’s gonna fly to Bells Beach for the Rip Curl Pro.

トップのマクアの写真と並ぶ、カヘアのクラシックフォトを御覧あれ〜〜

スエルは段々とスローになってきたが、来ればまだ来る！！
明日がタウンセッション、ラストデイかな〜〜〜
今日も３時過ぎにタウンをキックオフ〜
トラフィックが嫌なんで、本日はリキリキハイウエイからイースト回りで帰宅〜
途中カネオヘから、カシュ〜〜っとやりながらの帰途となった〜
2nd day became all day Bowls session~~~
Swell is getting slow but it comes when it comes!!
Tomorrow will be the last day in South Shore~~~
We drove back home in 3 pm.
And we hate traffic so went back home from east side~~
Started drinking from Kaeohe already~~~
