今日は太平洋側から札幌へ〜
太平洋側は霧・雨だったが、中山峠の手前あたりから晴れていたので、
道中、蝦夷富士と言われる羊蹄山がくっきりと見えた〜
そのまま定山渓を抜け、札幌市街に突入〜〜〜
今日は札幌駅前にあるネストホテルにチェックイン〜
にゃんと二人で一泊・４８００円、駐車場代が１２００円なので、計６０００円と安かった〜
Heading toward to Sapporo~~
Pacific side was a bit rainy and fogy but became sunny after going past Nakayama Pass.
And saw Mt. Yotei during the padd~~
And got to Sapporo City~~~
Checked in to Nest Hotel~~~
4800 yen for both of us and extra 1200 yen for the parking lot~~
札幌に来たのはプロスキーヤーであり、北海道のパイオニアサーファーの一人でもある、
ノーチャンことタガワノボルさんに会いに来るためだった。
ノボル君とは昔からの知り合いで、２０年近く前に行った北海道取材の時は全面ケアをしてくれ、
最後の最後で襟裳のレフトハンダーのクラシックを当てることができた。
その後北海道に来ることがなく、１０年前のダブ３０周年記念パーティーの時に会ったくらいで、
実に１０年以上も会うことがなかった。
今回はホテル前で少ししか会うことができなかったが、
この２０年の間に４人の子供をもうけ幸せなファミリーを築いていた。
今回もノボル君の伝手で北海道各地のサーファーとのコンタクトが取れ、
更にディープな北海道を知ることとなったことに感謝いたします。
今度は秋の台風シーズンに来ま〜す〜〜
I came down to Sapporo to meet Noboru Tagawa, one of the pioneer of
Hokkaido’s surfing scene and a actual pro skier.
Met his 20 years ago and took car about me when I was traveling in Hokkaido and
led me to a classical left hand wave in Erimo.
After that trip, I never visited Hokkaido so last time I met him was at the
Dove Party held 10 years ago.
I had only small amount of time to meet him but
he had one lovely family.
Thanks for all of your support during this trip and
giving me a chance to meet many people and waves.
I’ll meet you in autumn~~~

１９９０年代後期、まだサーフィンワールド時代に敢行した３度目の北海道取材で、
最後の最後で巡り会えたクラシックなレフトハンダー。
一日前まで静まり返った海を見ながら、ほぼ諦め状態だったのが一夜明けて一転、
大炸裂の海へと変貌、慌てて狙いのこのレフトに向かったことが、
ついこの前のことのように思い出される。
This shot is from the trip I went to Hokkaido 10 years ago.
The ocean was remaining silent so I was actually giving up to see some waves but
after a night, ocean started to wake up and went down to this lefty.
Can’t believe that was already 10 years ago.
