昨日、伊豆コンテストが終わるや否や、日本海サイドがサーフズアップしてきたので、

下田から天城峠を越え三島に抜け、新東名〜伊勢湾岸〜東名阪〜新名神を爆走し、京都・丹後を目指したが、

流石に滋賀県の大津サービスエリア（午後１０時）で仮眠をとり、

午前３時に起きて、名神〜京都縦貫道を突っ走って、にゃんとか午前５時過ぎに目的のボックスに到着〜

昨日着いていたケンタによると、昨日の朝は小さかったけど、昼頃からいきなりサイズアップしだし、

風も西寄りでよくなくニアリークローズジャンクコンディションだったという。

して今朝は一気にサイズダウンしたものの、ツルンツルンのクリーンコンディションと化した〜

After the contest in Izu, Japan Sea side started to get busy so

headed toward Tango, Kyoto and got there on 5 am~

Kenta were there from yesterday and told me size started to rise dramatically from

yesterday’s lunch time but wind was westerly so condition was junk.

And condition changed clean this morning~~

試合で敗れるや、季節外れの日本海の波を求めて一足先に丹後入りしていたケンタ。

ややウィークなコンディションながらも、セットはやっぱボックスバレル〜〜

風が入りきるまで、板をチェンジしながらもピークに張り付いていたのは流石だった。

After Kenta lost on his competition, came down to Japan Sea for a wave.

Condition was a bit weak but sets were Box barrel~~

He sticked to the peak till the wind filled in.

Takaaki Hatanaka

このポイントをチャージする数少ないローカルサーファーの一人・ハタボウ。

農園の仕事に従事しながらも、いつもチェックは欠かさず朝一のボックスは外さない。

Hatabo is one of the only local surfer that charges here.

Works as a farmer but never misses checking the waves here.

鹿児島出身ながら現在は京都・丹後で整骨院を開業しているローカルのエイチャン。

最近ビーチで肩を脱臼して、ボックスでのサーフィンは辛そうだった。

Eichan runs a bonesetter’s clininc at Tango.

But he dislocated his bone recently so looks painful surfing out there.

Takahide Mayaguchi

京都・舞鶴から足繁く丹後半島にも通うタカヒデ。

試合には出なくなったが、日本海＆四国のウエイブハンターとして成長して行っている。

Takahide drive here from Maizuru.

He retired from the contest scene but still moves around as a wave hunter.

水も温み、風も無く、夏の日本海・丹後デイでした〜

伊豆からのロングドライブでしたが、やっぱ来て良かった〜〜

なんだか北海道から陸奥、そして湘南〜伊豆へとワープしたけど、

まさかこの旅の最後が日本海・京都・丹後になるとは、、、

いよいよ明日は大阪かにゃ？、、、、

One summer Japan Sea session~~

Had a long drive from Izu but no regret meeting with this wave~~

Traveled from Hokkaido and through Mutsu, Shonan and Izu but

never thought about ending at Tango…

I guess time to go back to Osaka…
