Kaishu Tanaka @ Kahea Hart Training Gym
昨日、三度ハワイに戻って来たタナカカイシュウ。
３月はノースに滞在し、サーフィンとトレーニングに励み、
４月からはインドネシア／バリをベースに同様の動きをするという。
今日から早速、ベルジーのカヘアコーチの元で、
ハードなトレーニングが始まった。
今季ノースショアでのカイシュウは、
バックドア／オフザの突込みもさることながら、
ビゲストデイだった１／２１のワイメアで、
キラリと光る素晴らしいドロップを魅せつけてくれたのが印象的だった。
Kaishu Tanaka came back to Hawaii again yesterday.
He’ll train in North Shore for March and
goes to Bali in April to do train as well.
So he was training hard with his coach, Kahea.
I remember Kaishu made a
wonderful drop at Waimea on January 21st.

朝一パイプで撮影していたが、あっ言う間にサイズアップし、
アウトオブコントロールとなり、バックヤーズからマエダの運転で、
ジェットスキーを出して、ビデオ担当／カミオと３人でベイを目指した。
予報では昼頃がスエルのピークになるどろうと言われていたので、
丁度タイミングよく、１０時頃からワイメアのチャンネルに辿り着いた。
日本人は誰が入っているのかな〜と思っていたら、セットが入って来た。
ラインアップがうごめき、その一番ディープポジションから、
カイシュウが乗り込んできた〜〜
ノースピーク独特の前が先割れしてしまう危ないタイプの波だが、
カイシュウはスピードに乗ったドロップで、
インパクトゾーンよりも降りきり、爆弾ホワイトウォーターに消えて行った。
着いていきなりのセットをカイシュウがとらえ、
見事なドロップを撮影出来、俺もカミオも超ストークっていうか、
カイシュウのスキルに驚かされた。
ガンを駆使しながらもぶれないスタイルに感心してしまったほどだった。
その後も何本かビッグワンをとらえ、昼過ぎにカイシュウは上がって行った。
午後からやや北寄りのオンショアが吹き始めたが、
サイズはホールドどころか更にカミングアップし、
マックスセットは２０フィート近くあった。
結局この日のベイが今季のザデイとなり、
素晴らしい日本人アタックの写真／映像を記録する事が出来たのだ。
夕方撮影を終えベイを後にし、
脈々としたグランドスエルが押し寄せる大海原をジェットで走り抜け帰って行ったが、
行きと大きく違い、スエルがでかくなっていたので、
バックヤーズのチャンネルがわからなくなってしまい、
次のカヴァラベイまで来てしまい、その向こうにはタートルベイのホテルが見えた。
あれ？おかしいぞ、来すぎてしまったか？と戻るもチャンネルが見当たらない。
しばしセットが止むのを待つと、あ、ここか、ようやくチャンネルを見つけ、
無事エントランスビーチに帰還する事が出来た〜〜
その後ジェットの手入れはマエダ君に任せ、
まだワイメアのランドで撮影しているアルカスビジョンを拾いに行ったら、
にゃんと、ログキャビンあたりから強烈な渋滞で前に進まない。
通常なら５分もあればいけるところを、４０分近くかけてワイメアに到着、
もうすっかりカメラをたたんでいたアルカスビジョンをピックすると、
エ〜〜〜まだこんなセット来るの？って言うくらいの
２０フットオーバーのニアリークローズアウトセットが来襲した〜〜
ブイもこの時間帯が一番でかくて、
結局一日中、スローながらもカミングアップしたワイメアデイだったのだ。
When I was shooting in Pipe, size rose up dramatically and
got out of control so me, Maeda and Kamio headed to the Bay from
Backyards with Maeda’s jet ski.
Forecast was saying swell be the biggest around in lunch time so
we got to Waimea’s channel around in 10am.
When I was checking who’s in the line up,
Kaishu started to drop from the deepest position~~~
Wave was a danger wave that was going to break fast but
Kaishu dropped faster than the wave and
disappear with the dynamic white water.
Me and Kamio was already stoked by getting his wonderful drop and
also got impressed by Kaishu’s true skill.
Kaishu’s stabilized style with his gun impressed us deeply.
And he caught couple bid ones and got out from Waimea after lunch time.
Northerly onshore started to blow from afternoon but
size was coming up and max set was nearly 20 ft.
This day was the Bay’s The Day of the season and
we were able to record this Japanese’s attack in pictures and footage.
After this session, we drove back to Backyards along the huge swells but
swell got too huge so we couldn’t find the channel and went up to Turtle Bay.
We thought something was wrong so we went back the way we came but
can’t find the channel. When we waited the set to settle,
we finally found the channel and got back to the entrance beach~~~
Maeda did all the stuff about the jet ski so
when I tried to pick up Arukas Vision in Waimea,
it took 40 minutes to drive down there from Log Cabin.
After I pick up Arukas Vision, there were 20 ft over sets still coming~~~
Buoy marked the biggest number in this time so that means
size was rising slowly and made The Day.
