本日のノースショア、朝一は雨だったが、４〜６の超クリーンなウエストスエル。
ジャパニーズボーイズは朝早くからバックドア＆パイプでサーフしていた。
雨雲が切れ出し９時頃から、１００〜４００ミリのレンズでパイプエリアを撮影していた。
そして１０時前に事件が起きた。
マウイチャージャーのダスティペインが、このスティープテイクオフによってワイプアウトし、
リーフにヒット、その後５本の波の下敷きになりドラウン状態となり、
水中にいたフォトグ・ケオキやウルボーイの迅速なレスキューによって、
ダスティはビーチに運ばれ一命を取り留めたが、かなりのシリアスなインジュアリーのようだ。
その後、今度はロッキーポイントでサーファーが命を落とすと言う、悲しい１日となった。
Rainy till morning but became clean with a 4~6 ft waves.
Japanese boys were out there from early morning already.
When I was shooting at Pipe area around 10 am,
Dusty Payne from Maui took off vertically and wiped out.
And hit the reef and drowned by eating 5 sets in a row.
By a quick rescue by a photographer and surfers,
Dusty got out alive but he’s in serious condition.
And bad news continues. One fatality has occurred at Rocky Point.

スエルは徐々にゴーイングダウン、風はステイブルで、グッドコンディションの1日だったが、
２つの事故によって、改めてノースショアの恐ろしさを思い知らされ、重苦しい1日となった、、、、
亡くなったサーファーの御冥福をお祈りし、ダスティの一刻も早い回復を願います。
Swell started to go down, wind was stabled and waves were good but
this two incidents reminded us how dangerous North Shore could be…
Lets pray for the surfer who past away and hope for a fast recover to Dusty.
