待ちに待ったワキタの出番が到来〜
白のガンには娘のサラちゃんがパパのために日の丸をペイントした。
Finally, Wakita is on the stage~~
His daughter painted a Japanese rising sun on his board.
用意されたのはトコロシェイプの３本のガンズ！！
He brought 3 Tokoro gun for this day!!

Jamie O’Brien
前半ジャーミーがとらえたボムセット。
フェイスに出来たボイルでバランスを崩しボトムでワイプアウト。
メイクしてれば間違いなく１００点カインドの波だった。
Jamie got this bomb set.
But wiped out by unbalancing his self on the boil.
Bet this was one 100 point kind if could of made it.
時折来襲するドセットは２５〜３０フットのクローズアウト！！
Some 25~30ft sets closed out the whole place!!
Grant Baker
歴史に残るヒュージワイプアウトを見せたサウスアフリカのグラントベイカー。
Grant Baker made a historical wipe out.
ラウンドー１／ヒートー３に出場のワキタ。
後ろにはボードキャディをしている息子のタイチの姿も見えた。
ゴー、ワキタ！！
Wakita surfed on Heat 3, Round 1.
Saw his son, Taichi being his board caddy.
Go for it Wakita!!
ヒートが始まるやいきなりのクローズセットをもろに喰らったワキタ（左）。
この一撃でインサイドまで持って行かれてしまった〜
But ate a huge closed set after the heat started.
And took him all the way down to the inside~~
Takayuki Wakita & John John Florence
一本目はトップで風にあおられワイプアウト、
そしてこの２本目はセットをとらえたが途中の段差でバランスを崩し
強烈なワイプアウトを強いられ、早くも板を折ってしまった。
Wiped out by getting blown by a wind and
wiped out again in his 2nd wave.
When he wiped out on this 2nd wave, he broke his board as well.
Clyde Aikau
エディアイカウの弟としてここまでのイベントを引っ張って来たクライドさん。
この大会に出るのはこれで最後だという。
Mr. Clyde led the competition all the time as Eddie’s brother.
He said this competition will be his last time competing.
Mark Healey
ブチ切れチャージを見せサイコなエアードロップから、
マンモススープのボトムまでメイクしたマークヒーリー。
強烈なインパクトを持った一本だった。
Mark Healey made a incredible crazy airdrop and
made it to the bottom.
Made one impact to us.
板をチェンジして再びパドルバックしていくワキタ。
砂が沖に出ていて何気にゲティングアウトが大変なコンディションだった。
Wakita paddling out with his another board.
It seemed to be hard to get out by the sand out there.

高得点を叩き出したこの一本こそワキタがずっとワイメアで培って来たものだ。
エディのジャッジはこの巨大なスープに耐えて出て来なければスコアにならないのだ。
This is the wave what Wakita surfed for.
Eddie’s judge won’t give a good point until surfers makes through this huge soup.
コンテスト中のウォーターパトロールの動きは半端じゃなかった。
最後の最後はこうして一旦ビーチに退散して仕切り直すのだ。
Water patrol’s movements during the competition looked mean.
They have to go back to the shore to reset of they need to.
Koa Rothman
オートネントで出場することができたコアロスマン。
尋常じゃないアプローチを見せ付けた。
Koa Rothman made it to the competition from the waiting list.
What a crazy approach.
Makuakai Rothman
そのコアのお兄さんであるマクアは昨年度のビッグウエイブツアーのグラチャンだ。
And Koa’s older brother, Makuakai. He’s the Grand Champion of last year’s Big Wave Tour.
Danilo Couto
ブラジリアンのダニエルもオートネントでこの名誉あるエディにゲットインした。
Danilo also made it to this honored competition.
Dave Wassel
ノースショアライフガードを代表して選ばれたデイブワッセル。
Dave Wassel surfed as the North Shore’s representative of lifeguard.
Ramon Navaro
前回の大会でラストミニッツで最大級の波をとらえ１００点満点を叩き出した
南米チリ出身のラモンナヴァロの強烈なワイプアウト。
Ramnon scored a 10 pointer on the last competition but
ate one huge wipe out today.
Ross Clarke Jones
今大会で最高得点の９６点を叩き出したロスクラのボムセット。
難しいコブのあるテイクオフから絶妙なレールワークで
巨大な壁をアーティーにメイクしていった。
Ross Clarke scored 96 points by this bomb set.
Bumps made this wave difficult but he made it through by his
delicate rail work.
Kelly Slater
サイズこそそれほどでもないが綺麗にカバーラップされ、
ワイメアバレルをカムアウトしてきたキングケリー。
Size wasn’t that huge but Kelly made through this Waimea barrel.
Mason Ho
オートネ一番で初のエディ出場となったメイソン。
誰よりも凄い波をとらえていったがメイクがなくスコアを伸ばせなかったが、
粋の良さは天下一品だった〜〜
First time competing on the Eddie Aikau for Mason.
He caught one of the best wave but couldn’t score good.
But sure looked awesome~~

さあ泣いても笑ってもこれが最後のヒート。
ラウンドー４／ヒートー４に望むワキタ。
何気にラウンドー１での成績が良かったので、
このヒート次第ではもっと上位を狙える位置にいた。
Now, this will be Wakita’s final heat.

Scored good on the 1st round so
had a chance to get better result on this heat.
Takayuki Wakita
しかしこのホローテイクオフでワイプアウトしてしまい、
またまた板をブロークしてしまった〜〜〜
But wiped out and broke another board~~~
最後のガンを駆って再び沖に向かうワキタ。
それにしてもダイハード、このタフさ集中力の凄さには頭が下がる思いだ。
Wakita has a unbelievable concentration.
No one could copy that.
Takayuki Wakita
再びラインアップに戻ったワキタだったがウインディコンディションにあおられ、
この波もワイプアウトしてしまった。
正直このヒートはあまり波が来なくて残念だった。
Got back to the line-up but condition became windy so
wiped out again.
Too bad the waves weren’t good during this heat.
Shane Dorian & JOB
まさにワイメアクローズセットを乗り込んで行ったドリアンとジャーミー。
迫り来るビッグレフトから回避するためジェットスキーもフルスロットル。
これぞまさしくエディ／ワイメアと言える。

John John Florence
とにかくコンプリートという意味からジョンジョンはずば抜けていた。
ラウンドー２での追い上げにより今大会のウイナーとなった〜

Talking about “completing” the waves, John John was the best.
By his result on Round 2, he became the winner~~

６シーズン振りに行われたエディは、過去に無いヒュージワイメアで開催され、
歴史に残る素晴らしい感動的なイベントとなった。
エルニーニョウインターならではの２度目のコールでの
このザデイでのエディは本当に見事というしかなかった。
感動をありがとう。
6 seasons has past from the last Eddie Aikau and this time was held in one
huge Waimea and became a historical wonderful impressive competition.
Plus, it’s just amazing to see the Eddie by the 2nd swell of this winter.
