ハレイワで行われているハワイアンプロでの日本人ヒートが終わるやいなや、

ニアリークローズアウトのパイプがようやく整い始めたので、もうダッシュでエフカイビーチパークへ〜

スーパーウエストの１０〜１２の中に、スニーキーノースの１０〜１２が混じり、

まだまだエピックとは言えないが、やっぱビッグパイプはアーティーで感動するな〜

なので、今日はハレイワ・コンテストシュートから、パイプ・フリーセッションへ〜〜

After the Japanese heat finished,

Pipe started to settle down so drove back to Ehukai Beach~~

10~12 ft by super west swell and a bit of north,

Not that epic but Pipe always give us an artistic impression~~

午前中はトータリークローズアウトだったが、午後２時頃からやや整い始め、サーファーもパドルアウト〜

しかしまだまだウッシュアウトセットが来る、ヘビーヘビーコンディションだった〜

Ocean was totally closed out on morning but started to get mild from 2 pm so

surfer started to paddle out~~ But it was still a heavy condition~~

今日の半日をパイプ＆サンセット＆ワイメアチェックに費やし、

夕方まだクローズセットの来るパイプにファイナリーパドルアウトしていったカイシュウ。

ギャビンベスチャンが狙う、ビッグノースセットに狙いを定め、

これだと思うドセットにパドルアウト、イージーテイクオフからボトムへ引っ張り引っ張り、

スーパーボトムオフした後はインサイドのティックなバレルにノングラブでプルイン〜

ビハインド気味でリップカールのブレイクも早かったが、エンドセクションがオープンアップし、

超ディープなバックサイドプルインからアンリアルなカムアウトしてきたカイシュウ〜

今日のヘビーなコンディションを考えれば、珠玉の一本と言えよう。

Kaishu checked out Pipe, Sunset and Waimea for half of his day and

started paddle out to Pipeline on evening.

Aimed for the big north set and

took off easily and pulled into the tick barrel~~

And made it out from this difficult barrel~~

In this heavy condition, this should be his wave of the day.

夕方サイズダウンしてきたかな〜と思ってたら、またセカンド＆サードが割れるセットが炸裂〜

Thought size started to go down,  but second and third reef started to break~~

今日のハレイワ、そしてパイプで完全ハワイ・ノースショアモードに身も心も入っちゃいました〜

Today’s session through Haleiwa and Pipe got myself, my feeling into North Shore~~

まだまだ砂が取れきってないパイプ〜エフカイエリア。

この次は金曜にビッグスエルが来襲すると言う。

Sands are still sticking around in Pipe and Ehukai area.

I heard that big swell is incoming on Friday.

今冬からエディ・クィックシルバーは無くなってしまったが、

昨冬のワキタのワイメアチャージは今も忘れることができないほどの感動を与えてくれた。

そして今もワキタは剥き出しのサーファーとして、彼自身の原点となるパイプを攻め込んでいるのだ。

Eddie Quicksilver has ended from this winbter but

last year’s Wakita’s Waimea charge is still in my memory,

And he’s still charging at his origin point, Pipe.

フォトグの俺にとっても、ここノース、そしてパイプこそがライフの全てだと認識することができたセッションだった。

３６冬目となる今シーズンも、気持ち新たに１日１日を大切に記録していきたいと思う。

Today’s session reminded me that my origin as a photographer is also North Shore.

This is my 36th year of North Shore winter but I’ll refresh my mind and record

the daily life North Shore respectfully.
